Why are the crusades a significant event in the Middle Ages? What are some negative results and what are some positive results?

Answer:

Crusades were significant as it strengthened the power of the religious authority at that time, and were a way for a lot of colonial expedition after that.

It's negative results were the same of any religious crusade as it hit the cord of religion only and judge others from their religious point of view only, and also many massacres happened.

The positive results were building communication bridges with those countries and communities.
