The way I calculate this is, first I would find 1% of £200.

To do this you divide £200 by 100, because to get from 100% to 1% you divide by 100.

This gives £2.

You need 2%, which is double 1%, so double that. This gives £4.

You also need 1/2. This can also be written as 0.5.

0.5 is half of 1, which we worked out earlier to be 2, so half 2, to get 1.

Then add that to your £4 and you have £5.
