Nia wants to find out whether she will save water by having a shower rather than a bath.

She knows that her shower uses 10.6 litres per minute and lasts for 7 minutes.
Nia assumes that the water in her bath is in the shape of this cuboid.

PICTURE SHOWS CUBOID WITH L = 120 CM, H = 35 CM AND W = 40 CM.
1000 CM3 = 1 LITRE

Using Nia's assumption, work out how many litres of water she saves by having a shower instead of a bath.

Answer:

93.8 Liters

Explanation:

Shower:

10.6 liters water per minute for 7 minutes

Water Used = 10.6 * 7 = 74.2 Liters

Bath:

1 cuboid bath

The volume of the cuboid is:

120 * 35 * 40 = 168,000 cm^3 (holds this much water)

In Liters,

168,000/1000 = 168 Liters

Shower uses 74.2 Liters and Bath uses 168 Liters, amount saved is:

168 - 74.2 = 93.8 Liters
