If each box (from slide 4) used material that cost $0.03 per square inch to make, how much does a company save by choosing to make fifty boxes of the smaller box in comparison to fifty boxes of the larger box?

Answer:

1st box: 385 in squared x .03 = $11.55 per box.

$11.55 x 50 boxes = $577.50

2nd box: 439.75 in squared x .03 = $13.1925

$13.1925 x 50 boxes = about $659.63

The company would save $659.63 - $577.50= $82.13 per 50 boxes if they go with the smaller box.

Hope this helps :)
