Native Americans have witnessed long histories of colonization and discrimination beginning from the Spanish, Dutch and finally the British occupation. The socio- political and economic policies of Independent America led to discrimination in the public domain. It resulted in subjugation of indigenous people as well as marginalization from the dominant American societies

There were a number of reasons:

1) The immigration and hybrid generation of Native Americans are looked down upon due to not having enough native blood.

2) The stereotype revolving around the Indian look.

3) It stretched to different aspects of society including racism, social discrimination and cultural appropriation.

4) The biased representation in sports, art and films.

5) Native Americans are experiencing their languages disappearing.

6) They were also excluded from land rights due to reservation policies of 19th Century.

7) The indigenous people are poorest of the poor even today in the larger spectrum of America's economy.

8) Native Americans were also excluded from the power structures of American society resulting in lower social services.

If the policies of action, benefits and all other elements are analyzed, we can see that Native Americans are still left out in most of these items. It also makes us realize that Native Americans are not seen as Americans, it is as if they were only Americans to be born in American territory, they are still considered almost as intruders.
