JUST NEED AN ANSWER ASAP

Solve for x and y using elimination.
2x+5y=-23
5x+13y=-60

x = 1 ; y = -5

Explanation:

2x + 5y = -23 --------------(i)

5x + 13y = -60 ----------(ii)

(i)*5 10x + 25y = - 115

(ii)*(-2) -10x - 26y = 120 {add the two equations}

-1y = 5 {Now x is eliminated}

y = 5/-1

y = -5

y = -5 in equation (i)

2x + 5*(-5) = -23

2x - 25 = -23

2x = -23 +25

2x = 2

x = 2/2

x = 1
