use the formula:


(n-0)/(0)=(-x)/(100)

n=new price (21)

o=old price (25)

x=% (since its a discount the "x" will be negative)

so


(21-25)/(25)=(-x)/(100)


(-4)/(25)=(-x)/(100)

2) cross multiply:

-4(100)=-25x

-400=-25x

16=x

the percent discount is 16%
