Answer: L = 10 , W = 14

Explanation:

Let
L represent the Length and
W represents the Width , then from the first statement , we have

W +6 = 2L

That is :

W = 2L - 6

The formula for finding the area of a rectangle is given as:

Area =
Length x Width

That is :

140 = L(2L-6)

140 =
2L^(2)
-6L

That is :

2L^(2)-6L-140=0

solving the quadratic equation , we have

L = 10 or
L = -7

Since the length can not be negative , therefore :

L = 10

Substitute L = 10 , to get W ,

W = 2L - 6

W = 20 - 6

W = 14

Therefore , the dimension is 10 x 14
