Given:

The piece of stained glass is in the shape of a parallelogram.

Base of a stained glass =
2 (1)/(2) inch

Height of a stained glass=
1 (1)/(4) inch

To find:

Area of the piece of stained glass.

Solution:

Area of the parallelogram formula:

Area = base × height

$=2 (1)/(2)*1 (1)/(4)

Converting mixed fraction into improper fraction.

$= (2*2+1)/(2)* (1*4+1)/(4)

$= (5)/(2)* (5)/(4)

Multiply two fractions.

$= (25)/(8)

Converting improper fraction into mixed fraction.

$= 3(1)/(8)

The area of the piece of stained glass is
3(1)/(8) square inches.
