Yesterday, Colleen went to a lecture on relationship problems. She didn't take notes, but she is able to repeat a great deal of it to a friend. In particular, she is able to remember the parts that she felt applied to her own past relationships. The concept of ___________ may explain this.

Answer: Level of Processing

Explanation: The level of processing concept or model by (Craik and Lockhart, 1972) states that the recalling of memory is dependent on how shallow or how deep the mental processing of that information was. The deeper the mental processing of an information, the longer it will take for that memory to be forgotten and the more shallow a mental processing of an information was, the less time it will take for that memory to be forgotten.

In deep mental processing, one usually associate the information with similar or familiar cases, this makes the recalling process easy.

Colleen was able to recall almost all of the information she received from the lecture because she deeply processed the information by relating it to her own past relationships.
