Shirley Jackson, the writer of Lottery portrayed characters and mindsets of people in a village where men dominate women in every possible aspect.

Step-by-step explanation:

In this story, the writer showcased elements that throw light upon how and what makes men think they are superior to women. A tradition in the village, in which the entire story is setup, is as ridiculous as their mindsets. There is a lottery system which is performed in front of the entire crowd of that village. They pick lottery and decide who to stone to death.

Also, it is always the person who picks up the chit with a black dot on it, in one family. Summers, the character who takes charge of the lottery always makes sure to put the black dots on the chits with names of women in it.

The idea of stoning someone till their last breath, that too a woman, irrespective of a child, lady and mother, chills our spine while reading this story.
