Tony Owens a special pet store that sells only snacks and elephants currently he has a total of 11 snacks and elephants in stock the animals that he has in stock have total of 12 legs how many of his animals are snakes

Answer: There are 8 snake and 3 elephants.

Explanation:

Let x= Number of snakes

y= Number of elephants

We know that , snake has no legs elephant has 4 legs.

Then, Total animals = x+y=11 (i)

Total legs = 4y = 12

⇒ y=3 .. (ii)[divide both sides by 4]

Substitute value of y from (ii) in (i) , we get


x+3=11\Rightarrow\ x=8

Hence, there are 8 snake and 3 elephants.
