The number of atoms on both sides of the equation must equal in the above equation.

The number of Pb atom is 1 on both sides. The number of N atoms is 2 on both sides. The number of O atoms on both sides is 6, the number of K atoms on both sides is 2 while the number of I atoms is 2 on both sides.

Therefore, the equation is balanced.

In the unbalanced form of equation, two molecule of iodine are formed in the product whereas there is only one molecule of iodine is present in the reactant. So for balancing this, 2 value is put in front of potassium iodide but by putting 2, potassium is also double in the reactant so 2 is also placed in front of potassium nitrate in the product and the equation is balanced.
