Explanation:

For two points
(x_(1), y_(1)) and
(x_(2), y_(2)), the distance between them on a graph can be found with the following distance formula:

\sqrt{(x_(1) - x_(2))^(2) + (y_(1) - y_(2))^(2)}

Plugging in the points from the problem statement give us the following:

\sqrt{(2 - 10)^(2) + (-2 - (-8))^(2)}

\sqrt{(-8)^(2) + (6)^(2)}

√(64 + 36)

√(100)
