For what value of a does the equation ax2−3x−5=0 have 1 as one of its roots?

a=8

Explanation:

If we plug the equation into the quadratic formula we get:


(3+√(9+20a))/(2a) and
(3-√(9+20a))/(2a) so then we can do
(3+√(9+20a))/(2a) = 1

After doing that work out we find that a = 8.

I mean its not like you need the paper homework since there are online now classes yknow so...
