If QT = ST, then

2x = y + 3

If PT = RT, then

x + 5 = y Solving by substitution, plug x + 5 in for y in the first equation.

2x = x + 5 + 3 and

2x = x + 8 and

x = 7 Now plug in 7 for x to solve for y:

If x + 5 = y, then

7 + 5 = y and

y = 12
