Which sentence contains a misplaced participial phrase? The peppers flecked with red spots are devilishly hot. The editor, writing with red ink, slashed half the words from the manuscript. The paper crumpled in the corner was my essay. Look out for the monkey that stole my wallet with the broken tail.

I think then it would be “look out for the money that stole my wallet with the broken tail” because you are not being specially with what has a broken tail - the wallet or monkey? A better sentence would be “the monkey with the broken tail stole my wallet, look out!”

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

A participial phrase is misplaced if it seems to modify a word other than the one the writer intended to modify. It is often added to a sentence as an afterthought. The idea was clear in the author's mind, but it didn't translate to the reader.

Misplaced: We got on the bus, soaked from the rain. (Was the bus soaked?)

Better: Soaked from the rain, we got on the bus.
