Historically, both the Spanish and the French had a completely different way of dealing with Native Americans.
For example, the French, for most part, took native Americans as important trading partners and developed healthy trading ties with them. There was a greater trust and economic ties between them.
However, the Spanish did not enjoy cordial relations with the natives. In fact, they were know to loot and plunder cities and take them as slaves.
However, one way in which both of them were common was how the Spanish and French eventually married with local native American women resulting in unique cultures to develop.
