Hey there!

2(x + 3) = 16

☆ Distribute ↪ The formula is: : a (b + c) = a(b) + a(c) = ab + ac

➡ ➡ 2(x + 3) = 2(x) + 2(3) = 2x + 6

☆ New equation: 2x + 6 = 16

☆Subtract by 6 on your sides

2x + 6 - 6 = 16 - 6

☆ Cancel out: 6 - 6 because it equals 0

☆ Keep: 16 - 6 because it equals 10 and that helps us solve for your equation

☆ New equation: 2x = 10

☆ Divide by 2 on your sides

2x/2 = 10/2

☆ Cancel out: 2x / 2 because that gives you 1

☆ Keep: 10/2 because it gives you x

☆☆ 10/2 = x ; 10 ÷ 2 = 5☆☆

∴ Your answer is: x = 5 ✅

Good luck on your assignment and enjoy your day!
