A painting is on sale at 50% off. The sale price is $320. What was the original price? I understand that you can do 320 x 2, however, my teacher will not accept that. How do I do it with a two-step equation?

Answer:

(320 ÷ 50) × 100

Explanation:

if you divide 320 by 50, you get what a single percent of the original price would be. So to get the original price, you just need 100 of the singular percentages, which you can get by taking a singular percentage (320 ÷ 50) and multipoint it by 100
