How do you solve -8k=-5k+9

This one is quite easy once you know how to achive this:

What you want to to is first add 5k to both sides

-8k + 5k = -5k + 5k + 9

This eliminates the 5k leaving

-3k = 9

And since you can't have a negative exponent, times both sides by -1

-3k x -1 = 9 x -1

3k = -9

Now divide both sides by 3 to get the answer

3k/3 = -9/3

k = -3

and thats the answer.

you add +5k to both sides to eliminate-5k, leaving you with -3k=9 { since you added 5k to both sides } . then you divide both -3k on both sides { to isolate k }, leaving you with k = -3 as your answer.
