Three children are three years apart in age. Let x be the age of the youngest child. What are the ages of the other two children in terms of x?

Answer:

The age of eldest child is (x+6) and the second child is (x+3)

Explanation:

When all 3 children are 3 years apart and the youngest is known to be "x" age :

1. The difference between the youngest and the second child is 3 years apart so you have to add 3 to the second child,

Second child = (x+3) years old

2. It works the same way as for the eldest child, the difference between second and eldest is also 3 years apart so you have add 3 to the eldest child,

Eldest child = x+3+3

= (x+6) years old
