A student of weight 647 N rides a steadily rotating Ferris wheel (the student sits upright). At the highest point, the magnitude of the normal force on the student from the seat is 578 N. (a) What is the magnitude of at the lowest point

We need to first calculate the net force exerted on the body to calculate the force at the low point. Neta force will be the difference between weight and force exerted on the body. In this way:

F = W+F_c

F = 578N

578N = 647N+F_c

F_c = -647N +578N

F_c = -69N

Negative sign indicates that the force is direct upwards,

At the lowest point,

F_c = -69N

Hence Normal force

F_n = 647N+69N

F_n = 716N
