Amount of change he will get is $6.50 .

Explanation:

We have , If you buy 5 yards of cotton cloth at $7 a yard, 2 yards of silk cloth as $5.25 a yard, and 12 shirts at $14 a piece, and you pay the clerk $220 in cash, We need to find what would you expect in change . Let's find out:

Total amount of change = $220 - (Amount of products taken)

Cotton = 7(5) = 35\\Silk-cloth = 2(5.25) =10.50\\Shirts=12(14) = 168

220-(35+10.50+168)

220-(213.50)

⇒ $
6.50

Therefore , Amount of change he will get is $6.50 .
