Explanation:

area of the rectangle = 3×4 cm²

= 12cm²

area of the circle = πr²= π = 3.14

area of the shaded region = 12-3.14 = 8.86 cm²

The area of the shaded region is 8.86 sq cm.

Explanation:

Given,

In rectangle

Length (l) = 4 cm

Width (w) = 3 cm

In circle

Radius (r) = 1 cm

To find the area of the shaded region

Area of the shaded region = area of the rectangle - area of the circle

Formula

Area of the rectangle = l×w

Area of the circle = π
r^(2)

Now,

Area of the rectangle = 3×4 sq cm = 12 sq cm

Area of the circle = π
1^(2) = π =3.14 sq cm [ taking the value of π as 3.14]

Area of the shaded region = 12-3.14 sq cm = 8.86 sq cm
