Someone please help me with this question.

Holstein cows and Jersey cows are two different types of dairy cows.

The graph shows the average number of gallons of milk produced each day at dairy farms with Holstein cows.

The table shows the average number of gallons of milk produced each day at dairy farms with Jersey cows.

Martin’s Dairy Farm has 110 Holstein cows. Stinson’s Dairy Farm has 110 Jersey cows.

Use the information in the graph and the table to:

Determine which dairy farm will produce more milk in a two-month period.

Estimate how much more milk that dairy farm will produce in the two months.

Show and explain your work and any assumptions you used to determine your answer.

Answer:

More milk production: Holstein Farm

About how much more: 52 gallons (approx.)

Explanation:

Looking at the table:

We find the slope (gallons/number of cows) by dividing gallons with number of cows from each row to get this:

175/30 ≈ 348/60 ≈ 526/90 etc.

= 5.8

Looking at the graph:

We find the slope by taking 2 points from the graph and the slope would be:

Change in y coordinates/ Change in x-coordinates

Taking the 2 points:

(50,300) & (150,1000)

slope = (1000-300)/(150-50) = 700/100 = 7

Lets find milk production of 2 farms:

Holstein: drawing a line connecting the points and looking at x = 60, we see the gallons would be around 400.

Jersey: 60 days is 348 gallons (in table)

So, Holstein Farm would produce more milk in 2-month period.

How much more???

400 - 348 gallons ≈ 52 gallons (approx.)
