Answer:

The correct answer is mean would decrease but there will be no noticeable change in median.

Explanation:

Chucky grabbed 12 items in the grocery store. Mean cost of all the items is $7.41.

Total cost of all the items that Chucky grabbed = $ (12 × 7.41) = $88.92.

One item namely, wheel of cheese costing $39.99 is being removed from all the item Chucky bought.

∴ Price of leftover 11 items = $ (88.92 - 39.99) = $48.93

The new mean of 11 leftover grocery items = $ (
(48.93)/(11) ) = $4.45.

Thus the mean value has decreased from $7.41 to $4.45.

The median whereas will not change as one of the outlier value has been removed.

Thus the median will remain the same.
