The writer F. Scott Fitzgerald ,in his novel the Great Gatsby represents the American Dream because Gatsby had very little initially and then he rises to become wealthy and enjoys a good status in the society. Similarly in American dreams also the author talks about rising from nothing to becoming something influential.

Step-by-step explanation:

In the novel the Great Gatsby, the author Fitzgerald make use of many literary devices like using symbol in order to draw its resemblance to the American Dream. The first example is the usage of Green light symbol that represents gatsby hopes and his dream life with Daisy.Another symbol which is the Valley of Ashes represents the bad consequence of the Americans obsession with their wealth

The usage of Symbol is meant to add fiction and to depict the relationship between the various character in the story
