from the equations , we are going to say let

y=2x-4........................................ equation 1

4x+5y=22................................ equation 2

put the value of y = 2x -4 in equation 1 into equation 2

4x+5y=22................................ equation 2

4x + 5( 2x -4) = 22

4x + 10x - 20 = 22

14x - 20 = 22

14x = 22 + 20

14x =42

divide both sides by 14

14x/14 = 42/14

x = 3

put the value of x = 3 in equation 1

y=2x-4........................................ equation 1

y = 2(3) - 4

y = 6 - 4

y = 2

therefore using substitution methods the value of x = 3 and y = 2 respectively
