You must use order of operations (PEMDAS).

Before you can do any addition or subtraction, you must do the multiplication.

So first do 2 x 6 = 12

The problem becomes:

5 + 12 - 4 + 7 = ?

If you add all the positive numbers, it becomes:

24 - 4 = 20

Hope this helps!
