Punic wars were fought between the second and third century BC by Rome and Carthage.

Step-by-step explanation:

Rome and Carthage were two of the biggest cities in the world right across the Mediterranean to each other and the Punic wars were the wars fought between the two over control of the area.

The leader from the Carthage side who is remembered the longest was Hannibal who fought the till the end of the Punic wars pulling Carthage out of a compromised position and almost sacking Rome.

The wars were some of the biggest that the world had seen till then.
