Hey there!

We need to find the slope and y-intercept to write an equation. Parallel lines will always have the same slope. Therefore, our slope is 2, as we can see in our first equation.

Now, with this slope, we need to find the y-intercept, which is b. We will take this point we have been given and plug it into our nearly finished equation and solve for b, and then we can complete the equation.

4=2(1)+b

4=2+b

b=2

Now, we can write our equation.

y=2x+2

I hope this helps!
