a² -b²=(a+b)(a-b)

see on "a" there is square and also on b

2. no there is no matter

now let multiply (a+b) (a-b)

a²+ab-ab-b²

a²-b²

now let multiply (a-b) (a+b)

a²+ab-ba-b²

ab and ba is same

a² -b²
