You need to the elimination method!

x-5y=-3

3x-5y=11

You need to multiply the top by -1

This means every number has to be multiplied by -1 on the x-5y=-3

-x+5y=3

3x-5y=11

The 5y's should cancel out

-x=3

3x=11

Now do -x+3x and 3-11

2x=-8

x= -4
