Nolan runs a stable that boards 4 brown horses, 9 black horses, 3 brown and white horses, and 2 black and white horses. What is the experimental probability that the next horse that comes to board is brown?

Answer: 2/9 or 0.22

Explanation:

Probability = number of possible outcomes/ number of total outcomes

From the given question, total number of outcomes is 18, which the the sum of all the horses in the stable.

P(brown) = number of brown horses/ total number of horses

= 4/18, simplified to 2/9 as s fraction

= 0.22
