Explanation:

To make the solution easier let's equate to zero

-2/3a+5/6a-1/6=0

Add 1/6 to both sides

-2/3a+5/6a=1/6

Look for LCM for those ones on the left side... the LCM is 6

-6a+5a/6=1/6

-a/6=1/6

Cross multiply

-6a=6

Divide both sides by -6

a=-1

Therefore the final answer is -1
