Answer:

for brand a= $8 per/kg and brand b=$5 per/kg

Explanation:

Let A be the cost per kg. of brand a

Let B be the cost per kg. of brand b

forming the equation: (wt. * cost + wt. * cost = wt. * cost)

4A + 6B = 10(6.20) ------(1)

2A + 8B = 10(5.60) ------(2)

lets find out the values of A and B by solving above equations.

(1)=>
A=(10(6.20)-6B)/(4)

A=(62-6B)/(4) put this value in eq(2)

(2)=>
2((62-6B)/(4) )+8B=10(5.60)

(62-6B+16B)/(2) =56

10B+62=112

B=(112-62)/(10) = 5 ---> ($5 per/kg for B)

now for A,

A=(62-(6)(5))/(4)=8 ---> ($8 per/kg for A)
