  • Slope/gradient = c (pythagoras theorem) :
    c^(2) = a^(2) + b^(2)
  • x = a, y = b
  • x = 5 - (-4) = 5 + 4 = 9
  • y = 5 - (-3) = 5 + 3 = 8


c^(2) = 8^(2) + 9^(2)

= 64 + 81

= 145


\sqrt{c^(2) } = √(145)

Therefore,

c = 12.0 (3 s.f.)
