1. square the whole equation

(√2x+3)²=(x)²

2x+3=x²

since it becomes a quadratic equation, take all terms on one side = to 0

x²-2x-3=0

Use the quadratic formula, because the equation cannot be factored.

x=(-b±√b²-4ac)/2a

x=(-(-2)±√4-4×1×-3)/2×1

x=(2±√4+12)/2

x=(2±√16)/2

x=(2±4)/2

x=1±2

x=1+2, 1-2

∴x=-1, 3
