And George, while his intelligence was way above normal, had a little mental handicap radio in his ear. He was required by law to wear it at all times. It was tuned to a government transmitter. Every twenty seconds or so, the transmitter would send out some sharp noise to keep people like George from taking unfair advantage of their brains. How is this excerpt an example of irony

Answer: Irony is a figure of speech whereby words are used to express something other than especially the opposite the literal meaning. In simple terms, irony occurs when what is said or written actually negates what happen in reality.

From the excerpt above, It was claimed that George was intensely intelligent , infact beyond the scope of normal intelligence. However, despite George being overtly intelligent, he was still shielded or curtailed from. Making use of his brain and couldn't get around it.

Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

An irony is a rhetorical device which appears to be a certain way but it us actually the opposite it is the expression of one's meaning by using language that normally signifies the opposite, typically for humorous or emphatic effect.

Irony is a state of affairs or an event that seems deliberately contrary to what one expects and is often wryly amusing as a result.

George is too intelligent, more intelligent than normal, but wears a device that keeps him and people like him from taking advantage of their brain. Despite being very intelligent, their own brain is being protected from them, so that they can't use it unfairly. This is highly ironical.

They are intelligent but they are not permitted to use their Brain because they may use it unfairly.
