Many of those who fled Spain, especially among the Sephardic (Spanish Jewish) community, were highly educated and wealthy. Many fled to the Ottoman Empire. How do you think the influx of these refugees affected the Ottoman Empire? Do you think they welcomed the newcomers? Why or why not?
