They are used as important refrigerants and solvents in the manufacturing of refrigerators, ACs, coolers and aerosols sprays. When it is released in the environment due to improper appliance disposal or leakages it goes high up in the atmosphere where it is broken down by the UV rays and then the chlorine atoms released after this process attack the ozone molecules and destroy them.
