2*(length + width ) = 48

2*(2x + 3 + x) = 48

2*(3x + 3 ) = 48

3x +3 = 48/2

3x + 3 = 24

3x = 24-3

Width = x = 7 feet

length = 2x + 3 = 2*7 + 3 = 14+ 3 = 17 feet
