There were several reasons why African Americans decided to join the US military even when their conditions were so much worse than those of white Americans.

Some African Americans joined because they had no alternative back home. They were unemployed, or uneducated, and the military provided a viable option for them to achieve some progress. Others joined because, despite the injustices they would face, they wanted to serve their country. However, many also joined because they believed this would help their cause back home. They believed that, by joining the military, they were going to be able to prove that African Americans were as brave, patriotic, intelligent and hard-working as any other American. They hoped that this was going to help end segregation and bring about equal citizenship rights.

Answer:

Black slaves have been used in the U.S. Army and troops were in severe shortage.

Yet no honor will be put on the black slave troops. Throughout every move, they have had to face racial prejudices. And it would serve the African Americans in the army because it was comparatively better than slavery.

Slaves would have to operate under a boss and that they had to endure a great deal of physical and mental torment. Additionally, there has been chattel slavery in many areas.

They'd be paying a little in army. There will be food and shelter, in addition. There, they will be receiving medical services.

In addition, complimentary uniforms and other facilities were also important factors which caused them to remain in the army despite discrimination.
