The main aim of the program was to conserve the natural resources of the country by providing jobs to the young men. During the existence of the program it employed 500000 people.

It is considered to be one of the best deal by Roosevelt.It planted three billion trees or may be more than that, constructed shelters as well as trails in 800 parks nationwide during its existence. This system helped to develop modern park systems.
