Answer:

x=-1\\y=7

Explanation:

Given equations:

-8x+5y=43 Equation:1

-8x+4y=36 Equation:2

As the coefficients of 'x' are same which will eliminate the terms of 'x':

Subtracting Equation:2 From Equation:1

-8x+5y-(-8x+4y)=43-36\\\\-8x+5y+8x-4y=7\\\\5y-4y=7\\\\y=7

Putting value of 'y' in either equation:1 or 2

Putting y=7 in equation:2

-8x+4y=36

-8x+4(7)=36\\\\-8x+28=36

Subtracting '28' from both side:

-8x+28-28=36-28\\\\-8x=8\\

Changing the sides:

8x=-8

x=(-8)/(8) \\\\x=-1

The values are :

x=-1\\y=7
