Explanation:

A linear function : Linear functions are those whose graph is a straight line.

y = f(x) = a + bx , A linear function has one independent variable and one dependent variable. The independent variable is x and the dependent variable is y. a is the constant term or the y intercept. It is the value of the dependent variable when
x = 0 . b is the coefficient of the independent variable.

  • rate of change: Ratio between two related quantities that are changing.
  • slope: The ratio of the vertical and horizontal distances between two points on a line; zero if the line is horizontal, undefined if it is vertical.

In real life, we know that voltage is directly proportional to current , having resistance as a proportionality constant or more precisely slope of line :

voltage = resistance(current) , slope remains constant but , voltage is directly proportional to current .
