Four friends go out to eat and their meal costs $86.50. The sales tax is 6.75% and they tip the waiter 20%. How much should each person pay to the nearest cent?

Explanation:

Meal Cost = $86.50

Sales Tax= 6.75% of the Meal Cost

= 6.75% X 86.50

= 0.0675 X 86.50

=$5.84

They tipped the Waiter 20%

20% of 86.50

=0.2 X 86.50

=$17.30

Total Bill= Meal Cost + Sales Tax + Tip

= 86.50 +5.84 + 17.30

=$109.64

Since the friends are four, each one will be expected to pay:

$109.64/4

=$27.41
