Answer: b. Retrieval cues

Explanation: while memories have a great way of obtaining and retaining information, stored information is not always accessible on cue even though they are not lost in the brain. In cases such as these, retrieval cues play a role in remembrance. When we make new memories, we include certain information about the situation that has occurred to act as triggers to access that memory. Such triggers or prompts or hints are retrieval cues and they help us remember information that has been stored in memory more easily and they need not have to be in the form of words or phrases but can also be a particular scent, a location, or even a sound.
