Answer:

y = x - 5

Explanation:

y - y_1 = m(x - x_1)

First find the slope of the line

y = x - 1

y = mx + C

y - intercept point y

m - slope

x - intercept point x

C - intercept of the line

y = x - 1

The slope for the eqn is 1

Then we can use the eqn of line

y - y_1 = m(x - x_1)

Using the point we are provided with

( 4, -1)

x_1 = 4

y_1 = -1

y - (-1) = 1(x - 4)

y + 1 = 1(x - 4)

open the bracket

y + 1 = x - 4

y = x - 4 -1

y = x - 5

Therefore, the slope (m) of the line is 1

And the equation of the line is

y = x - 5
